A shift in weather patterns is bringing cooler temperatures and gusty winds to Southern California, marking an end to the recent stretch of mild, sunny conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Ventura County and most of Los Angeles County from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, with wind gusts potentially reaching up to 45 mph. Light showers are expected across the region from Friday night into early Saturday morning.

Mountain communities are preparing for winter conditions, as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through Saturday at 10 p.m. for the San Bernardino County Mountains. Areas including Wrightwood, Crestline, Running Springs, and Big Bear Lake are expected to receive between one to three inches of snow at elevations of 5,000 feet and above. Drivers should be prepared for hazardous conditions and snow chain requirements.

The incoming cold front brings good news for ski enthusiasts. Snow Summit Ski Resort in Big Bear plans to open Saturday, November 23, while Bear Mountain Resort will welcome visitors starting Friday, November 29. Mammoth Mountain has already begun its season, having opened to the public on Friday, November 15.

Temperature-wise, coastal areas and inland communities will experience highs in the low to mid-60s, while mountain areas will see notably colder conditions with afternoon temperatures ranging from the mid to upper 30s.

Looking ahead, forecasters predict another round of Santa Ana winds will arrive in the region by Tuesday.
