Warren Buffett’s 2006 Cadillac auctioned online for $122,500

Warren Buffett’s 2006 Cadillac DTS has been auctioned at $122,500 on auction website Proxibid. The proceeds from the auction will go for a charity that works for girl welfare and education. The information regarding the winning bidder has not been disclosed by the website.

Warren Buffett has autographed the Cadillac on the dashboard and he will personally hand over the key to the winning bidder. Compared to its estimated price of $12,000 the car fetched more than 10 times the amount.

The spokeswoman for Omaha-based website Proxibid, Dana Kaufman said that the proceeds will go to Girls Inc. Warren Buffett’s daughter Susie is a board member of the charity Girls Inc.

Warren Buffett has been associated with many charity events in the past as well. He has pledged his wealth to charity. He has also supported Bill & Melinda Gates foundation.

The bidding started at $10,000 and bids continued few minutes after the scheduled closing time for the auction. Buffett said that he will personally handover the keys to the new owner if he travels to Omaha.

In 2006, Buffett’s 2001 Lincoln Town Car with “Thrifty” license plate was sold for $73,000. In 2008, Buffett’s portrait was made by artist Michael Israel. The event netted $100,000 in donation. Buffett has also donated the proceeds of auction of his 20-year-old wallet with a stock tip in 1999, which fetched more than $200,000.
