In a display of bipartisan cooperation, California Governor Gavin Newsom met with President Donald Trump and Congressional leaders in Washington, DC to secure disaster aid for Los Angeles firestorm survivors.

The high-level meetings centered on obtaining federal assistance for families who lost homes and livelihoods in last month's devastating Southern California wildfires. Governor Newsom was accompanied by Wade Crowfoot, Secretary of the California Natural Resources Agency.

On Capitol Hill, Newsom held discussions with California Congressional Representatives from both parties, including Doug LaMalfa, Ken Calvert, Judy Chu, Brad Sherman, and George Whitesides. The Governor also met with key Senate leaders, including Senators Martin Heinrich, Raphael Warnock, and Patty Murray, alongside California Senators Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff.

The Governor's White House meeting with President Trump proved productive, building on their earlier interaction when the President toured the fire-ravaged areas. Newsom highlighted the strong partnership between local, state and federal agencies in response and recovery efforts. He specifically acknowledged EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin's rapid deployment of over 1,000 personnel for debris removal operations.

"We're working across the aisle, as we always have, to ensure survivors have the resources and support they need," stated Governor Newsom. "Thank you President Trump for coming to our communities to see this first hand, and meeting with me today to continue our joint efforts to support people impacted."

The Governor's administration continues implementing measures to expedite recovery and cleanup efforts while streamlining the rebuilding process for affected communities across Southern California.
