The devastating Palisades Fire continues to rage across Los Angeles County, with the death toll climbing to 13 as the blaze pushes eastward into Brentwood and Encino communities.

Fire officials report the blaze has now consumed over 22,000 acres and remains only 11% contained. Strong northeast winds overnight drove the fire into residential areas north of Brentwood, prompting expanded mandatory evacuations from the Pacific Ocean to the San Diego Freeway and north to the Encino Reservoir.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirms 13 fatalities between the Palisades and Eaton fires combined. At least 426 homes have been destroyed, along with over 5,300 structures including vehicles. Approximately 105,000 residents remain under evacuation orders.

The Getty Center and Getty Villa report their facilities and art collections remain secure, though they continue monitoring the situation closely as stronger winds are expected. Weather forecasts predict gusts between 30-40 mph later today, with an even more powerful wind event bringing 40-60 mph gusts early next week.

Emergency response teams have established an extensive evacuation zone stretching from Sunset Boulevard to the Encino Reservoir, and from the 405 Freeway west to Mandeville Canyon. Voluntary evacuation warnings extend to Ventura Boulevard, impacting large portions of Encino and Brentwood.

The J. Paul Getty Trust issued a statement noting: "Our galleries are safe and protected. Aside from a few hot spots, the Villa remains stable." However, officials emphasize the dangerous conditions could rapidly change as weather conditions worsen.

Fire crews continue working around the clock to protect homes and critical infrastructure while bracing for the forecasted wind events that threaten to further complicate containment efforts in the coming days.
