Texas Governor Rick Perry could move to California next year
Texas Gov. Rick Perry could move to California in January next year after finishing his stint running the state, according to a recently published article.
Writer Mark Leibovich claimed in the article that Mr. Perry told him about his love for the Golden State, and about the possibility of his moving to the state next year.
In the article, Leibovich wrote, "Perry told me that he loves California, vacations in San Diego annually, visits the state about six times a year and might even move here in January when he's done with his 14-year stint running Texas."
The writer based the article on comments made by Mr. Perry during his recent visit to Los Angeles. When asked about that possibility, Mr. Perry's spokesperson Travis Considine said the governor named California as his home after completion of his current tenure after he was asked where he would reside if he could reside in any state other than Texas.
Mr. Perry is not a loved figure in California as he led a series of job-poaching missions that encouraged many companies to shift their operations from California to Texas. California's high taxes and tough regulations for businesses have repeatedly been criticized by the Texas Governor. In April this year, California suffered a big jolt when auto giant Toyota declared that it was moving its U. S. head office from California to Texas.
Mr. Perry is not seeking re-election in November, but he has not ruled out a second attempt for the post of the President of the United States. His 2012 presidential run flamed due to a series of public gaffes.
