California man charged with soliciting minor girl
Anne Arundel County police on Monday slapped a young man with a charge of soliciting a minor to send him sexually explicit photos and videos.
Murray Lee Chesak of Ontario was arrested by Anne Arundel County Police Child Abuse Unit last Wednesday. The Child Abuse Unit arrested the man with the help of law enforcement authorities in California.
Police authorities revealed that the 25-year-old man had been in contact with the now-15-year-old girl for around two years through a social network. He asked the girl to send him sexually explicit photographs and videos, which she did.
According to police claims, Chesak was aware of the fact that she was a minor at the time. He made arrangements to fly to Maryland at the start of April this year to meet the girl and had even booked a room in a hotel in the area in order to have sexual relation with the minor.
The girl's father somehow found out the man's misleading messages and informed the police, which managed to prevent the meeting.
In light of the incident, police authorities have cautioned parents to ensure that their children's computers are placed in a family area; their children do not disclose their identifying information to strangers; and that their children's profiles are set to private.
Chesak is currently imprisoned in the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, California, awaiting extradition to Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
