Satya Nadella Takes Serious Steps to Change Microsoft

Satya Nadella has taken some serious steps to make changes at Microsoft. The company has announced the biggest layoff in its history. The market experts have appreciated the moves planned by the new leadership at Microsoft and the stock has gone up by 21% after Nadella took over the command. Over the next few quarters, Microsoft aims to layoff nearly 18,000 people, most of them in Nokia division.

Nadella has planned to push forward in the mobile and cloud space. The smartphone market is growing and mobile devices are picking up pace as more people want to stay connected while they are on the move. Microsoft had missed the opportunity in the mobile space and companies including Apple, Samsung and LG became the market leaders in the segment.

Microsoft is also looking better in the mobile space now, after the company acquired Nokia’s mobile devices division. A senior official from Microsoft recently indicated that Microsoft will promote its own operating system rather than backing the most popular Android mobile OS.

Microsoft is planning to focus on low cost smartphones as that is the place where most of the action is going on. Microsoft will offer the latest mobile devices powered by Windows operating system. The basic mobile phone models of Nokia will be soon phased out by Microsoft.

Under Nadella’s leadership, the markets have lot of expectations from Microsoft. With a push for cloud services, Microsoft could regain the market share from other players.
