Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is one of the richest men in the world
On Wednesday, popular social network Facebook reported strong 2014 second-quarter results in earnings; making the company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg one of the richest men in the world.
With Facebook having reported a 61 percent growth in revenue in the April-June quarter, 30-year-old Zuckerberg has become one of the worlds' leading billionaires; having a net value of $33.3 billion. The strong quarterly earnings increased Facebook's stock value to a record high of $74.98 on Thursday; adding $1.6 billion to Zuckerberg's bottom line.
Zuckerberg's mentioned personal wealth positions him right behind Carlos Slim and Bill Gates, on the list of people who have more billions in money than years lived. Slim, 73, is the richest man in the world, with a personal wealth of $85.34 billion; while 58-year-old Gates ranks second, with $84.81 billion.
With a net value of $33.3 billion, Zuckerberg has pushed ahead of Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, and Amazon. com CEO Jeff Bezos on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
On the Billionaires Index, Zuckerberg is now ranked No. 16. The Google co-founders are ranked at the 17th and 18th spot in the index; while Bezos is ranked at the 20th place.
