Google releases 360-degree VR tour of White House on YouTube
A 360-degree virtual reality (VR) tour of the White House has been released by Google on its YouTube video-sharing website, to unfold a peek at the holiday displays. The tour gives a glimpse of the holiday decorations at ‘the People’s House’ – the residence of US President Barack Obama.
The narrated VR tour has been posted to the White House’s YouTube page. It unfolds a nearly 6-minute video which shows the entire White House fully decorated for the Christmas season.
For the best VR experience related to the tour of the White House, viewers can watch the tour on their Android smartphones together with Google’s Cardboard VR headset. Alternatively, to get a 360-degree view, the viewers can also pan around the video with the help of their mouse as the video plays.
The 360-degree VR tour of the White House marks a remarkable effort by Google to take the viewers through the six levels of the President’s residence --- comprising 132 rooms, 32 baths, 28 fireplaces, 412 doors, 147 windows, three elevators, seven staircases, and other paraphernalia.
The VR tour also offers a chance to the viewers to virtually visit some other areas of the White House, including a tennis court, a jogging track, a swimming pool, a bowling lane, a billiard room, and a movie theater.
