Facebook’s ‘Instant Articles’ feature now available for Android users
Facebook has said in a recent announcement that it has extended the availability of its ‘Instant Articles’ feature to Android users.
The feature was launched by Facebook a few months back, and it was initially available exclusively to iOS users. Subsequently, Facebook rolled out a very limited beta of the new feature on the Android platform. The feature can now be accessed by anyone via the Facebook app on Google Play store.
The ‘Instant Articles’ feature – which has been designed by Facebook for use within the official Facebook app – gives users the ability to consume news stories more easily on their mobile handsets.
With more than 350 leading new publishers from across the world - including CBS, CNN, NBC, ABC, Buzzfeed, and New York Times, among others – having joined Facebook’s ‘Instant Articles’ program, the users of ‘Instant Articles’ feature can now gain access to much of the world’s news straight from the Facebook app.
One of the best things about the ‘Instant Articles’ feature is that it is embedded on the users’ Newsfeed, and is not a separate app. About the advantages of the feature, Facebook said that when people can easily read articles on a mobile device, they are more likely to share the articles with their family and friends.
