Microsoft Band gets new features with latest software update
According to a PC Mag report, Microsoft has rolled out new software update to its ‘Microsoft Band’ fitness-focused wearable device, upgrading it to ‘Microsoft Band 2.’ The latest Band software update is now available for download.
The updated Microsoft Band 2 boasts the addition of a number of noteworthy new features, including broader music controls, enhanced activity reminders, move notifications, and improved Exercise Tile.
The music controls functionality added to Microsoft Band 2 can be accessed by users by double pressing the power button on their fitness band. The action unfolds the option of song title and artist on the display of the fitness band. There are also buttons for users to play/pause music, as well as skip forward and backward. Users can also make volume adjustments by making right and left swipes on the display.
The Exercise Tile improvements enable Microsoft Band 2 users to setup the exercises which they perform regularly to show up as a tile, so that they can quickly track their exercise duration, calories burnt, and heart rate. Their data gets collected and grouped, according to exercise ‘type,’ in their Microsoft Health dashboard.
Some other new features which Microsoft has introduced in its upgraded Microsoft Band 2 device include a fitness tracker which connects to the users’ mobile handsets; automatic update notifications; and a heart rate monitor which can be used while listening to music.
