Twitch launches its app for Android TV

On Thursday, Twitch live-streaming video service for gamers announced the launch of its app for Google’s Android TV device.

The announcement of the launch of the new Twitch app for Android TV implies that the site’s video game streaming experience will now be available for the big screen.

The new Twitch app for Google’s smart TV platform will give Android TV owners the ability to watch live as well as recorded video of top gamers and players from the Twitch site. Moreover, with the help of the app, Android TV users will also be able to watch high-resolution (1080p/60fps) live and recorded videos of eSports events.

In addition, Android TV owners using the new Twitch app will also be able to follow the channels and games of their choice, and even browse profile pages in the same way as they can on Twitch’s main mobile app for the Android.

According to Twitch, the company’s new app for Android TV will enable users to log in right from their TV, and also chat with their friends, follow content which they have mined, and search for their favorite games and broadcasters.

With regard to the numerous features available for users of the new Twitch app for Android TV, Twitch said: “Our Android TV app gives you a more personal viewing experience, including the ability to login and follow content you love, search for your favorite games and broadcasters, and an integrated chat experience.”
