USPTO grants Google a new patent which hints at new enterprise-focused Glass design
Tech giant Google was granted a new patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The patent reportedly hints at the design of the next version of the Google Glass smartglasses focused on enterprise.
Though Google had discontinued its Glass futuristic eyewear some time back, reports and speculations have been making rounds, in the last few months, about the company’s plans to re-launch an enterprise-focused version of the Glass.
According to the rumors, Google’s efforts to re-launch Glass eyewear as an enterprise-focused device are apparently underway at the company, under the name of Project Aura. Google, however, has not made any official comments on the rumored ‘Glass re-launch’ move.
Nonetheless, it is also being rumored that Google’s second iteration of Glass eyewear will likely be a flexible frame which wraps around the users’ head and puts a single display before their eye. The new Glass version will include input and output structures; and its band will be designed in such a way that it will have the capability to be used as a touch-based input surface.
Moreover, it is also being reported that the new, enterprise-focused Glass version will be configurable by the users, so that they can fit the device around their face in such a way that its display gets positioned above one of the eyes.
