MasterCard announces ‘Free Fare Monday’s promotion for Apple Pay users in London
Leading credit card issuer MasterCard has announced the launch of a limited-period promotion called ‘Fare Free Mondays.’ The promotion, which kicked off on November 23, will run through December 14.
The special ‘Fare Free Mondays’ promotion announced by MasterCard will unfold an opportunity of free public transit to people who have linked their MasterCard to the Apple Pay mobile payment system.
Under the promotion announced by MasterCard, Apple Pay users in London will be offered free public transit on four Mondays -- November 23, November 30, December 7, and December 14. The promotion is valid for travel on the London Buses, London Underground, London Trams, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway, TfL Rail, Emirates Air Line, and most National Rail services in London.
According to the details announced by MasterCard with regard to the ‘Fare Free Mondays’ promotion, MasterCard will refund up to £27.90 in daily fares to its customers who use Apple Pay to touch in and out on London's public transit network.
About the ‘Fare Free Mondays’ promotion, MasterCard UK&I President Mark Barnett said: “Now that Apple Pay has arrived we want to encourage travellers on London’s transport network to try it out and give them another convenient option to pay for their travel. What better way to do this, than to offer MasterCard customers using Apple Pay the chance to travel for free over the next four consecutive Mondays.”
