Google Fit app for Android updated with new features and integrations
In a post released by Google on its Android blog on Thursday, the company said that it is updating its Google Fit fitness tracking app for Android.
The updated Google Fit app for Android comes with the addition of a number of new features and integrations, which are basically aimed at making the app's fitness tracking-related offering more comprehensive.
The update to the Google Fit app for Android has been rolled out by Google to enhance the capability of Android-powered smartphones and smartwatches, so that they become more effective fitness trackers. As such, the app now boasts the ability to track real-time statistics for walks, runs, and bike rides.
In addition, the updated Google Fit app for Android now takes strength training into account, and also documents nutrition and sleep. The addition of the new features to the app further augment Google's goal to offer more substantial completion to Apple and Samsung, by offering a universal hub for fitness data.
Meanwhile, along with the new features, the updated Google Fit app for Android is now capable of pairing with a horde of nutrition and weight-loss apps, including MyFitnessPal, Fatsecret, Lifesum, or LoseIt. Moreover, Google has also enhanced the fitness tracking app by introducing sleep tracking support for use with the Sleep as Android app and activity trackers like Sony Smartband 2, Xiaomi Mi Band, and Basis Peak.
