Google tries to woo developers with new ‘Custom Machine Types’ feature

In an evident attempt to woo developers, tech giant Google announced a new feature called ‘Custom Machine Types’ on Wednesday.

The new Custom Machine Types announced by Google comprises a set of new custom cloud capabilities which will essentially facilitate customers in selecting the cloud resources which best meet their requirements. The feature will enable users to select the best cloud resources for their needs, without having to pay for more cloud capability than required.

Announcing the new feature, Google said that Custom Machine Types will offer a flexible and affordable cloud deployment option.

According to the details shared by Google, the new Custom Machine Types will give developers the ability to choose between 1 and 32 virtual central processing units (vCPUs), and make additions of up to 6.5GiB of memory per vCPU on the rise.

Asserting that the new Custom Machine Types will enable developers to create compute instances with custom configurations of vCPUs as well as memory on the Google cloud platform, Google said that the new model will allow users to move a task from a particular vCPU configuration to a more appropriate vCPU configuration in case there is a change in the task.
