Bethesda: 12 million ‘Fallout 4’ copies were shipped on launch day

In an announcement made on Friday, game developer Bethesda Softworks has revealed that 12 million copies of its new ‘Fallout 4’ postapocalypse role-playing game were shipped to retailers on the game’s launch day.

According to Bethesda, the launch-day shipments of 12 million copies of the ‘Fallout 4’ game were worth $750 million.

Along with suggesting that the initial copies of ‘Fallout 4’ have sold out, Bethesda has also revealed that follow-up shipments of the game have already begun. The disclosure by Bethesda means that ‘Fallout 4’ is apparently one of the best-selling games released this year.

Bethesda has also stated that ‘Fallout 4’ is witnessing record-breaking digital sales. As per the information shared by the company, ‘Fallout 4’ has become the top-ranking game to be played on Steam, after it surpassed the earlier record for concurrent play with more than 470,000 Fallout players.

Moreover, the game’s companion app -- Fallout Pip-Boy -- became the No. 1 game on the iTunes App Store; and, going by a Twitch report, ‘Fallout 4’ has also set the record as the ‘most viewed game launch’ of all the games launched in 2015.

In response to the overwhelming response received by ‘Fallout 4’ from gamers, Game Director Todd Howard said in a recent press release: “A huge thanks to our fans that’ve made this all possible. After four years of development, it’s not complete until our fans get to play it and make it their own. We can’t wait to hear about their adventures.”
