Apple has started a new round of behind-the-scenes App Store changes
According to a TechCrunch report, tech biggie Apple started making a series of backend changes to its App Store this month. The new changes being made by Apple mark the latest round of the company’s behind-the-scene App Store changes.
Revealing that Apple kicked off a series of new App Store changes on November 3, the TechCrunch report said that the company first modified the manner in which apps are aggregated, ranked and returned when text searches are carried out by users.
In subsequent days after November 3, Apple has made some noteworthy backend changes to the App Store. The newest change was rolled out by Apple on Thursday, when it implemented a major shift in keyword handling.
As a result of the change, the earlier search engine iterations have been altered. Under the current system, queries are processed after taking contextual keywords into consideration, including partial matches as well as terms which are not a part of an app's title or designated "keyword" metadata.
The updated algorithm, which surfaces related and competing apps, is reportedly being seen even by developers who search their own app titles on the App Store. The change made by Apple is significant as it offers a more comprehensive overview of the plentiful apps available at the App Store.
