Apple opens online pre-orders for new Apple TV

Tech giant Apple has made its new Apple TV set-top box available for online pre-orders by customers. The shipping of the new Apple TV orders will be commenced by the company later this week; with customers who opted for one-day shipping likely to have the device delivered to them on October 30.

Customers interested in placing online pre-orders for the new Apple TV set-top box have the option of selecting from two models --- a 32GB storage model priced at $149; and a 64GB storage model priced at $199.

Along with the new Apple TV set-top box itself, Apple is also offering extra Siri Remotes which cost $79, as well as Remote Loop wrist straps priced at $12.99. Moreover, the company is also offering two-year AppleCare coverage for $29.

The new Apple TV set-top box comes with a number of noteworthy features including an A8 processor; 2GB of RAM; and support for up to 1080p video at 60 frames per second. In addition, the new remote for the Apple TV comes with a glass touchpad; an accelerometer; and a gyroscope. Moreover, third-party Bluetooth controllers are also supported.

The new Apple TV is also accompanied by a full App Store which boasts support for third-party apps. The new touch-based remote of the Apple TV supports Siri-based controls in some select countries; and the Universal search feature gives users the ability to find available content across a number of services.
