Whole Foods recalling two types of salads due to listeria fears
Back-to-back recall incidents are happening in Whole Foods. A few weeks back, Whole Foods recalled a brand of blue cheese and yet again it has announced a recall of two types of salads due to listeria contamination.
The recalled salads are packaged Curry Chicken Salad and Classic Deli Pasta Salads, which were sold in the East Coast markets like Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine.
As per the high-end retailer, around 230 pounds of salads are being recalled. Health experts have warned that those who have purchased the products should either discard them or return them.
This year, Whole Foods has been making a lot many recalls. In October only, it made four recalls. Not only blue cheese, the company has also issued recalls for Cheerios, Skipanon canned seafoods. Whole Foods enjoys great reputation for quality of its products.
Therefore, it has been making efforts to ensure that its reputation does not get tarnished due to these incidents. But then also, the retailer has to face a lot of criticism. For now, the source of the contamination is not known. But the FDA confirmed the presence of listeria in many tests.
Listeria is a deadly type of bacteria that makes around 1,600 people sick and lead to 260 causalities on annual basis. Those at maximum risk are elderly, children, pregnant women and those having weak immune system. Till now, no illness case has been reported.
