Facebook fixes ‘battery drain’ issues faced by users of its iOS app
Facebook rolled out a new iOS update on Thursday, fixing the ‘battery drain’ issues reported by the users of its iOS app. The update implements a fix for a major battery-draining bug, about which the users of Facebook’s iOS app have been complaining in recent weeks.
As a result of the battery draining problem faced by the Facebook app for iOS, large amounts of battery drain was being reported by affected iPhone users because of Facebook running in the background.
According to the complaints made by the affected users, the battery of their iPhones was apparently getting drained excessively even after they had toggled off the background refresh app in the Settings.
Though the recently-released iOS update by Facebook does not include any reference to the battery drain issue faced by the users of its iOS app, Ari Grant – Facebook’s Engineering Manager – has said in a post, via TechCrunch, that Facebook has taken the requisite measures for fixing the problems which were leading to the battery drain.
Going by the information shared by Grant, several bugs were responsible for the battery-drain issues affecting Facebook’s iOS app. Grant further added that one of these bugs ate up extra CPU cycles, because of which the Facebook app used up more than required battery for the affected iPhone users.
