Protection of Earth Is Very Important As No Other Planet Is Habitable: Dalai Lama

The 14th Dalai Lama a Tibetan spiritual leader, during a conference talked about the protection of the earth and asked his followers to spread awareness amongst people about the importance of protection the planet earth.

The 80-year-old spiritual leader also said that it if no major steps will be taken to protect earth from global warming then there will be a time when human survival on earth will be at risk.

He also insisted that he is not talking about a particular nation but question is about survival of the entire world as consequences of rising temperature due to global warming.

The noble peace laureate said in a video released recently, “Now, on top of these man-made problems, we have climate change and environment problem. I think, to some extent, the position of the whole galaxy is changing”.

Dalai Lama along with other Tibetan leaders has also demanded a stake in international climate talks scheduled to be held in December. The Tibetan Leaders also said as per estimation two-thirds of the glaciers in their country might disappear by 2050 due to the climate change.

According to the exiled Tibetan government, almost 80% of the ice in Tibet has melted in the past 50 years. Temperature of the Tibetan plateau, which has the largest ice storage outside the North and South Pole, has increased by 1.3 Celsius over the past five decades, they added.

It is very necessary to protect the Tibetan Plateau, not just for Tibetans but for the environmental health and sustainability of the entire world, said the Dalai Lama.
