IFA 2015 dominated by connected home devices, smartwatches, gaming PCs

The 55th IFA consumer electronics event got underway in Berlin on Friday; with the key attractions at the event being connected home devices, smartwatches, and gaming PCs.

The IFA is the biggest consumer electronics and home appliances show held in Europe every year. The IFA 2015 event is being held from September 4 to September 9; and a total of 1,645 exhibitors from all across the world are participating in the event to display their new products and services in the electronics market.

With home appliances connected and controlled from a smartphone being one of the product categories dominating the IFA 2015 event, a SmartThinQ sensor - which makes existing home appliances 'smarter' - was unveiled by LG Electronics.

European appliance manufacturer AEG showcased a connected oven with a built-in video camera; while Samsung Electronics introduced its new SmartThings home automation hub as well as its SleepSense sleep tracking device.

Motorola, Asus and Samsung showcased their new smartwatches - the Moto 360; the ZenWatch 2; and the Gear S2 - at the IFA.

Meanwhile, one of the bigwig device manufacturers that targeted gamers at this year's IFA was Acer. The company announced its new Predator laptops as well as a captivating new PC called Revo Build, which is made up of blocks stacked on top of each other.
