One billion people logged in to Facebook on a single day – August 24
On Monday, August 24, Facebook social network hit a new milestone --- one billion people logged in to the popular social networking website on that day; marking a record high number of Facebook users using the website on one single day.
The 'one billion users in one day' figures reported by Facebook for August 24 imply that nearly one-seventh of the world's population had logged in to the social network at some time during the day.
The latest milestone hit by Facebook is largely symbolic for the company, given the fact that it has approximately 1.5 billion active monthly users worldwide.
Interestingly, since more than 83 percent of Facebook users are from countries other than the US and Canada, most of the one billion Facebook users who logged in to the social network on August 24 were outside the US and Canada.
In reference to the new highest-ever single day usage figures reported by Facebook, the company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg said: "I'm so proud of our community for the progress we've made. Our community stands for giving every person a voice, for promoting understanding and for including everyone in the opportunities of our modern world."
