Periscope has nearly 1.9 million daily active users on iOS and Android

On Wednesday, Twitter’s video broadcasting and streaming subsidiary Periscope released the latest statistics on its users, revealing that it presently has nearly 1.9 million daily active users on the iOS and Android platforms.

Moreover, according to a blog post released by the Periscope team, the service – which was launched on March 26 - now has more than 10 million registered accounts, as of August 2. Though the team has not divulged the number of users who are active on a monthly basis, it has revealed that Periscope users are collectively watching nearly 40 years of video each day.

Given the fact that Periscope is only a four-month service, the figures released by the company are a clear indication that its daily active user growth chart is up-and-to-the-right.

Though the ‘approximately 2 million daily users’ number does not appear to be a massive figure number, it certainly underscores Periscope’s notable success in keeping its momentum going. In fact, the company even managed to accelerate the momentum in May, with the launch of an Android app.

With Periscope having been acquired by Twitter earlier this year, the video streaming service has certainly benefitted from its association with Twitter, as well as its distribution on the social network.

The fact that Periscope had witnessed stupendous progress is evident from an App Annie report which has revealed that Periscope was the eighth most popular social-networking app on Google Play and the and ninth most popular social-networking app on the App Store on August 11.
