Honda unveils new 2016 Accord in Silicon Valley
Bigwig Japanese automaker Honda Motor took the wraps off its new 2016 Accord on Thursday. The new Accord was unveiled by Honda at the grand opening of the company’s expanded Silicon Valley research and development (R&D) center in Mountain View, California.
Unveiling the new 2016 Accord, Honda said that it will be the first vehicle in the Honda lineup to support Apple CarPlay as well as Google Android Auto platforms. Both the platforms connect the smartphones of the drivers with the dashboard interfaces of the vehicle, thereby potentially reducing driver distraction.
Highlighting the fact that the 2016 Accord is also the first Honda vehicle to be unveiled in the Silicon Valley, Frank Paluch – Honda's R&D Americas President – said that the move is an indication of a mindset shift for the automaker as it looks to keep pace with the ever-changing vehicle technologies.
About the new 2016 Accord, Honda said that the new vehicle boasts the inclusion of a number of noteworthy technology upgrades. With a sportier and "more sophisticated" redesigned exterior, the new Accord features an aluminum hood; 19-inch wheels; and a 7-inch touchscreen display which supports both Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.
The new 2016 Accord will also come with the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies; and will be available in the same four- and six-cylinder engine variations as the 2015 Accord.
