Three arrested in connection with Sacramento home invasion & robbery

Three people were taken into custody early Tuesday morning on suspicion home invasion and vehicle theft on Albatross Way, a spokesperson for the Sacramento Police Department confirmed.

Police received a call about the home invasion and vehicle theft at around 2:45 a.m. from a home on Albatross Way close to the Capital City Freeway and El Camino Avenue. According to the report, the suspects robbed a man and his teenage daughter of marijuana, a pickup truck and trailer.

The victim told police detectives that he was confronted by three men who had firearms with them also all were wearing ski masks. The victim was assaulted before they stole his white Ford pickup truck and box trailer.

A search of nearby streets by a California Highway Patrol helicopter spotted the victim's truck driving in a neighborhood off Norwood Avenue. On the ground, police arrested the driver of the sedan that following the truck and trailer.

Two people in the Ford truck jumped out and attempted to flee on foot but police managed to apprehend them with the help of K-9 team and the CHP helicopter. During the search, officers also found a ski mask and a gun.

The three suspects, who were arrested on suspicion of home invasion, robbery, carjacking, assault and conspiracy, have been identified as 33-year-old Jose Rodriguez, 22-year-old William Wainiqolo, and 25-year-old Jose Zamora. All the three were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.

It is still unclear why the victim was targeted or whether he knew the suspects.
