Amazon Revamps Customer Reviews System, aiming to generate Helpful and Trustworthy Reviews
What is more reliable when buying a new product than getting to know someone’s firsthand experience with the same product? However, the whole motive of helpful customer reviews can get marred by fakes. Therefore, in a bid to strangulate such false reviews and uphold consumer trust worthiness, Amazon has overhauled its review system.
Amazon has used artificial intelligence (AI) to develop a new machine learning system that will sort through the reviews on Amazon, and distinguish the most reliable, popular and up-to-date by placing them on the top of the review list.
Julie Law, Amazon spokeswoman informed,” The enhanced system will use a machine-learned model to give more weight to newer, more helpful reviews from Amazon customers. The system will continue to learn which reviews are most helpful to customers and improve the experience over time”.
The revamp aims to improve the quality of reviews by giving more weight age to reviews from verified buyers or reviews of those who have the most helpful votes and include the newest updates.
Further, this upgrade will prevent companies from posting fake reviews in an attempt to raise the overall rating of their products and would thus enable customers to make a well informed choice without the apprehension of getting duped.
It has been reported that initially the new technology will be rolled out in the US alone.
Gearing up to attain optimal consumer satisfaction, Amazon is also currently testing a new ranking system that will allow its customers to give a rank to certain feature such as reliability or battery life of a sold product.
