Nintendo characters Donkey Kong and Bowser to appear in Skylanders SuperChargers

On Tuesday, Nintendo relayed a low-key online-only video at the E3 gaming conference; announcing that the company has worked out a partnership with Activision to bring two iconic Nintendo characters – Donkey Kong and Bowser — to the next Skylanders title --- Skylanders SuperChargers.

The Skylanders game – which has been a big hit for Activision - features toy figurines that interact with on-screen action.

The crossover arrangement which Nintendo has worked out with Activision for allowing Donkey Kong and Bowser to appear in the Skylanders SuperChargers game marks an extraordinary move for Nintendo. Thus far, Nintendo has limited the use of its characters to its own games and gaming hardware.

According to the announcement made by Nintendo, the Donkey Kong and Bowser figures will be able to work in the forthcoming Skylanders SuperChargers game as well as on Nintendo's own Amiibo platform.

Revealing that the Donkey Kong and Bowser figures will be exclusively available in the starter packs of Skylanders SuperChargers game for Nintendo’s Wii, Wii U and 3DS consoles, Nintendo also said that the figures will also work in the game’s different versions across all platforms.

About the Nintendo-Activision team-up, Nintendo’s President Satoru Iwata said: "Activision's Skylanders games have been very popular on Nintendo platforms, and we hope this collaboration will delight fans of the franchise. We believe this unique approach will help expand the entire category and make it appealing to even more players."
