DJI launches its new self-guided developer drone --- Matrice 100
In a recent announcement, drone-manufacturer DJI has said that it has launched its latest drone called the Matrice 100. The new DJI drone makes use of an onboard guidance system with integrated ultrasonic sensors and visual cameras.
According to DJI, the onboard guidance system of the Matrice 100 done has been designed to track the quadcopter's environment from all sides; thereby unfolding a 360-degree awareness of its surroundings. As such, the new drone will have the ability to make automatic adjustments to its flight path when it faces an imminent obstacle in real time, "even at high speeds."
The drone's capability to effectively guide itself in real-time comes largely from five sensor modules which help stream data continually to a central processing board. The drone allows 40 minutes of flight time on a full battery charge.
The $3200-priced lightweight Matrice 100 drone is essentially a developer drone which has been optimized for developing new software applications for controlling the drone flight using DJI's software development kit (SDK).
The Matrice 100 drone can be easily programmed through the SDK, which enables developers to even export the drone's environmental data to their own platform.
