Dog left hanging from a tree in Arizona; Animal Shelter raises $20,000

A shepherd mix dog was found hanging from a tree in Tuscon on May 12. A team at Pima Animal Care Center has cared for the dog and it has shown signs of recovery. The shelter has posted updates about the dog on its Facebook page.

The dog has been adopted by a family in Tuscon and is recovering well. The story attracted attention across the country after it was reported by the local and national media. The dog has been named ‘Sunny’ and is currently under care of a foster parent. Two year old Sunny has shown remarkable recovery over the last few days.

As donations poured across the country and from some international locations as well, the shelter has raised more than $20,000. The medical bill for Sunny is nearly $2,500. The rest of the money will go towards care of the other animals at the shelter.

José Ocaño, director of shelter operations for the Pima Animal Care Center, said, “She's getting her spirit back. Even the look in the eye looks more trusting and hopeful, which is a testament to how resilient animals are.”

The local police informed that they are searching for the previous owners of Sunny. The dog wasn’t having any microchip so it could be difficult to find the previous owner. The police said that the dog had been neglected before she was found hanging from the tree in Tuscon.
