Daredevil Performer successfully walks across 400-foot Wheel in Orlando
A walk across the rim of the 400-foot Orlando Eye observation wheel was successfully completed by Daredevil performer Nik Wallenda Wednesday morning in Florida. The walk was started by the 36-year old shortly after 8am atop the city's newest attraction, The Orlando Eye, which will open for public next month.
Wallenda said in an interview on Tuesday that forthcoming wet weather was a concern for him. “The structure has a very fine finish on it, almost like a car, and it's very very slippery. So my concern is, as I make my way to the rim, not even getting to the rim, that I could lose my grip and in the end, I could fall to the ground”, he said.
But thankfully, the weather was dry. He told Today.com that the walk was very unique for him as it’s the first time he was set for walking across any observation wheel. It was moving and he had to keep up with it. He said that walking without a balancing pole was a tough challenge for him and he also never had to duck under obstacles as he walked.
He said that he was living what his family has been known for more than 200 years. He said that being able to walk successfully across the rim of the observation wheel brought an amazing feeling of accomplishment.
Wallenda rode to the ground atop one of the wheel's capsules after completion of his walk.
