Facebook-owned popular messaging app WhatsApp has recently rolled out an update version for Blackberry -- the BlackBerry version 2.12.12. The updated version of the WhatsApp messaging app for BlackBerry users brings the app's new voice-calling feature to all BlackBerry 10 users.
The recently-released update of the WhatsApp for BlackBerry app underscores the fact that the messaging service has follows a platform-friendly approach, in an evident effort to attract as well as retain users.
WhatsApp has been, for the past several months, offering its voice-calling feature - WhatsApp Calling - for the BlackBerry platform; but, till now, the feature was available only by users who had the beta version of the messaging app on their BlackBerry devices.
With the rollout of WhatsApp for BlackBerry version 2.12.12, WhatsApp can now be used by all BlackBerry users for making VoIP calls to their friends and contacts for free. The feature will be available to BlackBerry users even if they are in another country, provided that they are on Wi-Fi, not a cellular network.
Since the WhatsApp Calling feature is now available to all BlackBerry users, making a call to someone on WhatsApp now requires BlackBerry owners to simply open the Calls tab, and tap on the new call icon at the top of the screen. They have to then select the contact with whom they want to talk and ring up that contact.
