Honda unveils sleek and sporty new Civic design at NY auto show

Japanese automaker Honda unveiled its sleek and sporty-looking next-generation Civic sedan at the New York Auto Show last week. The concept car showcased by Honda at the auto show will inspire the automaker's next- generation Civic sedan which is scheduled to hit the markets in fall 2015. The new Civic apparently underscores Honda's efforts to regain some of its sales momentum, especially after having rolled out a fairly ordinary-looking last-updated Civic model four years back.

Unveiling the next-generation Civic at the auto show on Wednesday, Honda's Executive VP John Mendel said that the introduction of the new Civic marks "the return of the sporty Civic."

The new Civic introduced by Honda boasts notably dramatic creases, a longer hood, 20-inch wheels, and a big rear spoiler. The sedan has been evidently designed to do away with the dull appearance and handling of the current Civic model.

The next-generation Civic will be equipped with all-new engines and transmissions; and will feature a mean-looking front grille as well as single-line LED tail lights. The styling of the new Civic, which Honda claims has been redesigned top to bottom, was overseen by Honda's design studio in California, while the car's engineering was led by the company's technical center in Ohio.
