Specialized division called to find missing pregnant California woman
Rescuers are scouring the Joshua Tree National Park of California for any signs of a young pregnant woman who has been missing since morning of last Saturday.
Erin Corwin reportedly left her home on the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps base at 7 a. m. last Saturday. Later her car was found abandoned near the national park and she disappeared under suspicious circumstances.
Her husband, Jonathan Corwin, who is a corporal in the U. S. Marine Corps, said that his wife had headed for Joshua Tree National Park. He reported her missing to local police the next day. Jonathan Corwin told the investigators that his wife went to the park to scout out an apt location for a family outing during her mother's upcoming visit.
The San Bernadino County Sheriff's Department said Erin's abandoned car, a 2013 Toyota Corolla, was found on Monday. But, the department officials didn't disclose the precise location where the car was found.
After an extensive ground and air search for the missing woman failed to produce any result, the sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail was called to join the investigation.
Cindy Bachman, a spokesperson for the sheriff's department, said, "The specialized division was asked to assume the investigation because they felt that there were definite suspicious circumstances."
Erin, who has been married to Jonathan Corwin for a year and a half, is originally from Oak Ridge, Tenn. Her husband told investigators that she has no known psychological or medical issues.
