LG G Watch - one of the first Android Wear smartwatches
The LG G Watch is one of the first smartwatches which run Google's new smartwatch platform, Android Wear.
With the Android Wear operating system for wearable devices largely designed around offering up the bare essentials, rather than reaching for needless additions, the $229-priced LG G Watch is an impressive device when it comes to hardware design.
The rectangle shape of the LG G Watch unfolds a comfortable-to-wear design. The smartwatch has been built out of a durable stainless steel body which is light on the wrist. The device also ships with a 22 mm rubber strap which is pretty convenient to fasten. However, users can also swap the strap for any other standard strap of their choice. The watch is available in two color options: Black and Gold.
So far as the basic features are concerned, the LG G Watch boasts a 1.65-inch IPS 280x280 display; a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz processor; 512 MB RAM; and 4GB storage capacity. The smartwatch offers a long battery life; and is easy to personalize.
However, the Android Wear-based LG G Watch is somewhat locked down in terms of what kind of customizations Google allows OEM to make. In addition, some other issues with the smartwatch include banding problems of the screen and difficulty in reading in direct sunlight.
