Google Store offers dedicated platform for Google-branded harware

Google has announced Google Store to promote and sell Google-branded hardware. The online store will showcase all the products from Nexus range, Chromebooks, Nest devices and Anroid wear. The Google Store will also feature some accessories, keyboards and chargers from partners.

Andrew Bowers, Director of Consumer Hardware at Google announced the move of the company to sell the refreshed Chromebook Pixel on Google Store. The Chromebook Pixel will be powered by Intel Core 5 or i7 processor and will cost $999 for the base model.

Google has separated the hardware products on Google Store while the apps and content buying options will continue with Google’s Play Store. Google is offering free shipping on all products when standard shipping is selected.

Google had setup online store for hardward in 2010 as well. However, the platform suffered a few setbacks and never became successful in generating sales for Google hardware.

Google’s official announcement said, “At, you can shop Nexus phones and tablets, Chromecast and Chromebooks, learn more about newer technology like Android Wear, Nexus Player and Nest, and stock up on accessories like cases, keyboards and chargers.”
