The 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is scheduled to kick off in Las Vegas on January 6. The event will run through January 9; and will be held at the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center, and a number of leading hotels.

The forthcoming CES event is likely to attract thousands of exhibitors at two key locations: CES Tech East and CES Tech West.

The 2015 CES will witness the unveiling of several new products, including Sony's clip-on wearable eyewear, LG's quantum dot televisions, new app-enabled cars, and hordes of 'smart' appliances for the home.

Other than show floor exhibits, keynote addresses, and the annual CES Innovation Awards, some of the other attractions of the 2015 CES event will include an international matchmaking function for US firms planning overseas expansion of their businesses; an Extreme Tech Challenge for startups to put forth their ideas to Virgin CEO Sir Richard Branson; new Wearable Tech Awards; and an open call for the entrepreneur-centric TV show Shark Tank.

With the 2104 CES event having attracted 160,498 attendees from over 140 countries, with 3,673 exhibitors, Allie Fried - senior manager of international communications for CES sponsor Consumer Electronics Association - said in an email that the 2015 CES to be "very on par with the 2014 show;" and added: "We are expecting more than 150,000 attendees from 140 countries and approximately 3,500 exhibitors spanning 2 million net square feet of exhibit space."
