Google starts rolling out Android OS version 5.0 ‘Lollipop’

In coincidence with the launch of its next-generation Nexus 9 tablet on Monday, Google commenced the rollout the newest version of its popular Android operating system --- Android OS version 5.0 'Lollipop.' The new, feature-rich and powerful OS version was unveiled by Google last month.

Announcing the rollout of Android 'Lollipop' via a blog post, designer Nicholas Jitkoff made a specific and detailed mention of the latest OS' new material design feature, because of which the user interface is similar across devices.

About the material design feature, Jitkoff said in the blog post: "When you think about mobile, an important aspect is the feel of the devices in your hand. Because of this, touch is one of the primary elements of material design, which is inspired by real-life materials like paper and ink."

The Android 'Lollipop' version facilitates the users in picking up where they left off --- when it comes to listening to music, scrolling through pictures, utilizing their preferred apps, or even entering search queries.

In addition, 'Lollipop' comes with multiple user accounts and guest user mode, along with default encryption as well as some new notification controls. One of the most consumer-friendly features of the new OS apparently is its battery-saver feature, which is capable of extending the battery life of devices by up to one hour and 30 minutes.
