Walmart slashes the cost of iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3
On Friday, retail giant Walmart told CNET that it has slashed the prices of Apple's newly-unveiled next-generation iPads - the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3. Both the new iPad models were introduced by Apple at a Thursday event in California.
According to the new iPad price-cut related details shared by Walmart with CNET, the retailer has reduced the cost of the full-size iPad Air 2 to $489, as against Apple's pricing of the tablet at $499. The cost of the iPad Mini 3 has been slashed to $389; though Apple has priced the tablet at $399.
Walmart also said that it has opened the pre-orders for both the new iPads from Friday. Apple also started taking pre-orders for the tablets Friday morning, because of which its online store went done temporarily.
About its pre-orders for the new iPad models beginning Friday, Walmart said that the tablets can be preordered from the retailer only in its brick-and-mortar stores. From Saturday, the tablets will also be available for pre-orders online at Walmart.com. The retailer will start shipping the new tablets on October 24.
Meanwhile, Walmart has also revealed that it is offering deals on the original iPad Mini also. The retailer is offering the tablet for $239, which underscores a $10 markdown on Apple's cost for the device. In addition, Walmart is offering two times the value - up to $200 - to customers trading in their old iPads.
