New synthetic grass warehouse opens in Fresno
Two businesses from central San Joaquin Valley have teamed up to open a turf supply company for supplying synthetic grass, as the historic drought of California has pushed demand for synthetic grass drastically up.
California Turf Warehouse, which recently opened at 4947 E. Dakota Ave. in Fresno, is owned by Brad and Liz Allen of Natural Landscaping in Madera and Porterville-based Grass Creations' Trent and Leslie Jones.
Ben Bergquam, communications & marketing director of the company, said the Joneses were contacted by synthetic grass brand TigerTurf for opening a distribution center in the Valley.
The Joneses have been in the landscaping business for nearly one and half decade; while the Allens boast to have an experience of more than 35 years in the industry.
Bergquam added that they opened the new warehouse after seeing an opportunity to help with the area's water issue. It may be noted here that the Golden State is passing through harsh dry conditions for the third year in a row, which forced authorities to encourage people to cut water use. The company is now providing synthetic grass installation training to workers.
Speaking on the topic, Berqquam said, "The owners saw the trend in the market and the opportunity to help with the water issue … We're training a whole new workforce of potential labor installers."
Turf installation classes cost $100, but the company is also giving participants a $100-gift coupon to spend on synthetic grass from the warehouse.
